Mapping - Coordinates Worksheet
Ashleigh_map_1.pngThis is a simple mapping exercise which uses coordinates in the form (C,4) to specify locations on a map with a grid placed over it. You can use this exercise to do some coordinates work. There are different elements on different layers so you can change the questions on the top layer if you wish. Other suggestions include dropping the 8point compass onto the page and talking about direction from one location to another. You could also decide on a size of each of the grid squares and ask students to calculate the area of different locations on the map or the size of the island.

A squared take B squared - (A Graphic Example)AsquareThumb02.png

AsquareThumb01.pngThis resource is used to graphically demonstrate the relationships in the equation A sq – B sq = (A + B) x (A - B). The dimensions of squares and rectangles are used to show the relationships. Thanks go to Ian Thomson of Orminston College for first showing me this example and his three video explanations are below the Sneak Peek

Fun With Estimation
FunWithEstimation.pngUse these protractors with no numbers on to practice perception of angles. There are two protractors - one with lines for units of 10 degrees and one with lines for units of 45 degrees.

Here's an FWC file with the two protractors in it. you can copy and paste them into a file you have made or create your own file using this template

Here's an exercise already set up where students estimate angles with the assistance of the protractors. They then measure the angle to see how accurate they were.
